Mom, You Better Check Yourself!

Mom, You Better Check Yourself

You have to love our kids and their ability to be brutally honest. I happen to have one of the most brutally honest kids out there. He has been that way since he was born. I remember him laughing at me when he was 10 months old as I would attempt to sing to him, then when he could finally talk he told me to stop because my singing hurt his ears.

Well now my awesome son is 25 years old and he still has this ability. It was Christmas Eve 2012 and he told me, “Mom, you better check yourself”. Of course, I was teasing him about something but those words have stuck with me these past couple of weeks.

So here I am, checking myself

I am using those words and somewhat advice from my own flesh and blood to get my head in the game and my goals and priorities set for my business in 2013. I am focused and devoted to build and grow. There are some key factors each and every one of needs to do to ensure growth and prosperity regardless of what business we are in. Most of us use January 1, the calendar year to mark the beginning. So here are my guidelines so we can all “check ourselves”. Do this exercise and write everything down!

Let’s all check ourselves :

• Mark where you are at right now
• Mark where you want to be at the end of 2013
• Map out a plan of action to get from here to there
• Set realistic goals; breaking them down to daily, weekly, monthly and yearly
• Prioritize how you will accomplish this
• The biggest step of all: Jump in full force and go after what you want!

Let’s explain each :

Mark where you are at right now! Did you know that by doing this will help you hold yourself accountable for your goals and actions over the next year. You need to take full responsibility for your success and you can do that by monitoring your results. This is powerful and a must.

Mark where you want to be at the end of 2013! I am a true believer of forward thinking. We all have goals and dreams. So now is the time to write them down. Where do you want to be? Where do you see yourself at the end of the year? It really does not matter what this vision is, as long as it is something you can see yourself being or doing.

Map out a plan of action to get from here to there! We all need a plan of action and this is where we map our targetable achievement points. Whatever your end result is divide that by 12 and that is your monthly action plan.

Set realistic goals; breaking them down to daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. I am also a firm believer of having goals, either in your personal or business life. We should continually be growing and learning regardless of what area of life we are talking about. Write down some goals and break them down as stated.

Prioritize how you will accomplish your plan of action and goals! By writing down your priorities in all areas of your life, it will help keep you focused and on task. This will also help alleviate the distractions. It will also show you if you are on task and where you are at in regards to accomplishing your plan of action and goals.

The biggest step of all: Jump in full force and go after what you want! You should now have your forward vision of where you want to be in a year and your plan of action on how to accomplish that. You should also have your goals written down for the year as well. Fear is what holds most people back from achieving what they truly want. Say no to fear and jump in and go for it. Go all it regardless of what you think will happen. If you don’t go for it, how will you ever know if you can ever achieve it?

So now that we have all checked ourselves.

I fully understand that keeping on task is hard to do. Write down your plan of action and goals then set out each and every day to get it done. Stay focused! Stay positive! Stay connected to those who are successful! You will be amazed at the great things that will come your way by doing little steps to achieve what you truly desire!

Now, go get it! I am jumping in full force! Feet first! Not even caring what is at the bottom when I land because I have my plan of action and goals set in place. The question is: are you going to sit back and watch or are you going to join me?
